Hotel Near the Sportpaleis in Antwerp
From VIA Antwerp you reach the AFAS Dome, the former Sportpaleis, in about 25 minutes by tram or 12 minutes by bike. The Lotto Arena stands right next to it. On the day of the show your concert ticket also takes you there and back by tram, which makes VIA Antwerp a handy hotel for a night at the Sportpaleis or the Lotto Arena.
The Sportpaleis is now the AFAS Dome
Since 2025 the Sportpaleis has been called the AFAS Dome. The hall and the address stayed the same, Schijnpoortweg 119, and the Lotto Arena, the smaller hall, is right next door. If your ticket or your plans still say Sportpaleis, you are going to the same place.
From the hotel to the AFAS Dome and Lotto Arena by tram
- Walk to premetro station Plantin, about 11 minutes (700 metres) from the hotel.
- Take tram 2, 6 or A3 towards Merksem or Luchtbal and ride six stops, about 11 minutes, to station Sport.
- Walk 2 minutes from station Sport to the AFAS Dome or the Lotto Arena.
Door to door, that is about 25 minutes. On the day of the show your AFAS Dome or Lotto Arena ticket is valid on all De Lijn trams, buses and metro lines in the province of Antwerp, to the venue and back, and you do not need to validate it.
By bike, taxi or car
By bike the AFAS Dome is 3.4 kilometres away, about 12 minutes. The hotel rents bikes for €12 for three hours or €16 for 24 hours, and your own bike is stored for free on level -1 of the hotel garage. By taxi or car, count on about 12 minutes, depending on traffic.
Driving to Antwerp for a concert? Leave the car at the hotel and take the tram to the show. The hotel garage costs €25 per day, first come, first served, and BePark, a three-minute walk away, costs €13.60 per 24 hours and can be reserved in advance.
Dinner before the show
MEA, the restaurant on the ground floor, serves dinner from Tuesday to Saturday from 18:00, so an early table before a concert fits easily. Chef Omri McNabb cooks modern Eastern Mediterranean. From Tuesday to Saturday there is also bar food between 12:00 and 22:00.
A quiet room after the show
The reception is open 24 hours a day, so coming back late is never a problem. From Tuesday to Friday the bar is open until 23:00, and on Saturday the bar stays open until midnight for a last drink. The next morning breakfast is served until 10:30 on weekdays and until 11:00 at the weekend. Late check-out until 13:00 costs €20, subject to availability.
